For the Blue Mountains, WSI cuts a big chunk off the trip compared with driving across Sydney to Mascot.

The drive from Katoomba to the WSI terminal at Luddenham covers about 70 km and takes around 1 h 10 min when traffic is light. Trips come down the Great Western Highway or M4 towards Penrith, then south along The Northern Road towards the airport.

Getting there without a car

Rail travellers can take the Blue Mountains Line to Penrith or St Marys, then connect by bus to the airport. WSI runs without a curfew, so for late-night and early-morning flights, or for anyone travelling with a group and luggage, a pre-booked transfer is the simpler option.

Katoomba to Sydney Airport

Sydney Kingsford Smith Airport at Mascot is about 105 km from Katoomba, around 1 h 40 min off-peak. That makes WSI the closer airport by about 35 km, but many airlines and routes still fly only from Sydney Airport, so we cover both.
